Our Doctors

Dr. Greg Lorenz, DVM

Greg Lorenz, DVM, graduated from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2000. He received the Merck Manual Award for graduating in the top ten percent of his class and was a member of the Phi Zeta Honor Society. Dr. Lorenz received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Cornell University in 1996. He is an active member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Animal Hospital Association, the Virginia Veterinary Medical Association and the Blue Ridge Veterinary Medical Association.

 

Dr. Lorenz worked originally as a mixed-animal practitioner in the Adirondacks in upstate New York. After about a year, he gave up working with cows and horses to focus entirely on dog and cat medicine and surgery. Dr. Lorenz practiced in a busy small animal hospital in southern Maryland for about five years before joining the Animal Hospital of Waynesboro in 2006. In October 2008, he took ownership of the hospital and is the Director of Medicine. His professional interests include surgery (soft tissue and orthopedics), as well as ultrasound and internal medicine.

 

Dr. Lorenz shares his home with his wife Jen, their two children, Maggie and Sam, two dogs – Duck and Peach, and four cats – Ju Ju Bee Jones, Mr. Potato-Head, Niagara and Cooper. In his spare time, he enjoys gardening, fishing and reading.

 

 

Dr. Stacy Reeder, DVM

Stacy Reeder, DVM, earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 1995. She practiced in the Shenandoah Valley for over 12 before moving back to her home state of Maryland. She has now moved back to the Shenandoah Valley, the place her heart never left.

Dr. Reeder has special interests in geriatrics and orthopedics, including physical rehabilitation and sports medicine. She completed her course work for certification as a canine rehabilitation therapist at the Animal Rehabilitation Institute and has practiced rehab for many years.

 

Dr. Reeder spends her free time hiking, reading and gardening. Also, she is very involved with her church as a lay pastor. She shares her home her dog Truvy and a menagerie of cats.

 

 

Dr. Michelle Weeks, DVM

Originally from South Florida, Michelle Weeks, DVM, graduated with honors from the University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine in May 2000. She then completed an intensive fourteen-month small animal internship at Hollywood Animal Hospital in Hollywood, Florida. After finishing her internship, Dr. Weeks practiced as a small-animal veterinarian for 8 years at a small animal hospital in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Dr. Weeks joined the Animal Hospital of Waynesboro in February 2009. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Virginia in 1996 and has many wonderful memories of the area.

 

Nominated as “Best Veterinarian of 2008” by the Morris Animal Foundation as well as by Hill’s and Dog and Cat Fancy Magazines, Dr. Weeks enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine. Dr. Weeks has special interests in dermatology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, internal medicine, and soft tissue surgery.

 

Dr. Weeks currently lives in Waynesboro with her husband Michael, daughter Maggie, son Maximus, dogs Frannie and Dutch, and cat Houdini. In her free time, Dr. Weeks enjoys traveling to exotic foreign lands, photography, reading, and restoring a crumbly Victorian she calls home.

 

 

Dr. Valerie Weiss, DVM

Valerie Weiss, DVM, graduated from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in Blacksburg, Virginia in 2003. During vet school she worked in the clinical pathology lab and volunteered with the wildlife medicine program. She was a member of Phi Zeta Honor Society, received the “Outstanding Senior” award, and was given awards for her interest in small animal nutrition, geriatric medicine, and clinical pathology.Dr. Weiss attended Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a major in Biology in 1992. She worked in outdoor education in Maryland and as a middle school math and science teacher in Ohio before returning to Virginia in 1996. After completing a Masters in Biology at the College of William and Mary, she realized that there was no avoiding her interest in veterinary medicine and returned to school again! She is a member of the Blue Ridge Veterinary Medical Association, the Virginia Veterinary Medical Association, the American Animal Hospital Association, and the American Veterinary Medical Association.

 

Dr. Weiss has been at the Animal Hospital of Waynesboro since 2003. She is particularly interested in geriatric medicine, nutrition, and metabolic diseases such as diabetes. Dr. Weiss is an avid gardener and loves living in the country just north of Waynesboro. Her days outside of work are filled with baking, preserving food, making soap, and playing with her children. She shares her homestead with her husband (Tom), sons (Joseph and William), dog (Katy), three cats (Seraphina, Soleus and Daisy), and a flock of chickens.

 

 

Reception

Melanie, Lead Customer Service Representative

Melanie has been with the Animal Hospital of Waynesboro since 2007.  She has a huge heart for our clients, patients and staff.  She considers the interaction with clients and patients to be one of the perks of her job.  Her warm and generous nature, organizational skills and attention to detail make her a huge asset to our family.  When she’s not with us, she enjoys spending time with family, friends and pets.

 

Samantha, Customer Service Representative

Samantha joined our front desk staff during the summer of 2017.  She loves meeting all the new people and their fur babies.  She is eager to learn all that she can about animal care as a whole.  We think that her kind demeanor and warm smile will welcome you and your pet.  When she’s not here you may find her enjoying long rides on country roads, cooking or just spending time with her family.

 

Samantha, Customer Service Representative  & Kennel Manager

A graduate of Riverheads High School, Sam has been with us since 2014, working in many areas of the hospital. She joined our reception staff, where her keen eye and attention to detail have proven invaluable. That attention to detail helps while managing the kennel staff. She enjoys spending time with her husband and riding horses in her off time.

 

Connie, Customer Service Representative

Connie is a graduate of Stuarts Draft High School and Blue Ridge Community College. We were fortunate to have this 30+ year customer service veteran join our team in 2015. She enjoys meeting new clients and their fur babies.  She also enjoys her co-workers as well as spending time with family and friends or gardening.

 

Alicia, Customer Service Representative

Alicia has been with our Reception staff since early 2011.  Her husband’s military career brought her to the Valley in 2010 and their love for the area has been our luck!  With his retirement, they have decided to stay.  She came to us with many years of experience in customer service and sales.  Her love of helping others is obvious in the warm smile she always wears.  She thrives on challenges and details and enjoys making others smile.

 

Karen, Customer Service Representative

Karen has joined our team with a customer service background spanning over 20 years.  Working at the Animal Hospital of Waynesboro blends her loves of working with people and her love of animals.  You can probably tell if you’ve been greeted with her warm smile.  In her off time, she enjoys reading, writing, walking, traveling and her dogs Toby and Gidget and her cat Chiana.

 

Donna, Assistant

Donna has been with the Animal Hospital of Waynesboro since 1987.  Recently retired from grooming, Donna remains active in assistant duties, administrative work and food inventory management.  She has educated herself in all aspects of animal care, enabling her to assist in many capacities throughout the hospital.  Donna is a Pennsylvanian by birth, but considers Waynesboro her home.  In her free time, she enjoys crocheting and other needlework.  She is pictured here with her dog, Journey.

 

 

 

Administrative Staff

Kim Sutherland, Practice Manager

Kim joined the Animal Hospital of Waynesboro as our Practice Manager in 2017. After many years as an HR Director and then HR Consultant, she decided to make a career change and pursue working with animals and those that love animals. Kim graduated from Michigan State University with a business degree, acquired an MBA from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI, and recently completed an Executive Master of Natural Resources program at Virginia Tech. Outside of the Hospital, Kim likes to volunteer (with animals of course) and spoil her dog, Babs, and new kitty, Fred.

 

Jennifer Lorenz, Administrator

Jennifer’s degree from Johnson State College in Business Management specializing in accounting and years working in mortgage banking gave her a love of numbers and accuracy. After staying home to raise Maggie and Sam to somewhat self-sufficient ages, she was welcomed to the Animal Hospital of Waynesboro in 2010 to take on various tasks that come her way. She loves the variety of her position and all that it teaches her.

 

Techs

Kimberly, Lead LVT

Kim, a Licensed Veterinary Technician, graduated from Blue Ridge Community College with an AAS degree in Animal Sciences/Veterinary Technology in 1998. She has been employed by the Animal Hospital of Waynesboro since 2003. Her professional interests include feral cats and orthopedics. She has been working in the veterinary field since 1995. Kim is pictured with her dog Iko.

 

 

Angela, LVT

As a Licensed Veterinary Technician, Angela has worked in small animal medicine, equine medicine, veterinary outside sales, and now she teaches veterinary assistants. She earned her AAS degree in Veterinary Technology in 1996. Her professional interests are small animal and equine dentistry and physical therapy. Most of all, she feels that client education is very important to ensure the best veterinary nursing care. Outside of work, Angela enjoys time spent with her son. Also, she loves competing her horse, Chili.

 

Brenda, LVT

Brenda, a Licensed Veterinary Technician, graduated from Blue Ridge Community College with an AAS degree in Business Administration in 1982. She soon decided Veterinary Technology was more to her liking and, in 1984, she earned an AAS degree in the field. In 2006, Brenda returned to school to complete the summer program at BRCC in Veterinary Dentistry. She has been employed at the Animal Hospital of Waynesboro since 2004. Her professional interests include dog obedience, animal behavior, and veterinary dentistry. She is pictured with her dogs Bruce and Winnie.

 

Crystal, LVT

Crystal, a Licensed Veterinary Technician, graduated from Blue Ridge Community College with an AAS degree in Animal Sciences/Veterinary Technology in 2002. With a 4.0 GPA, she was awarded Summa Cum Laude and received the Vet Tech Student of the Year award. She has been employed by the Animal Hospital of Waynesboro since May 2001. Her professional interests include dentistry, whelping, and neonatal care. She belongs to the Yorkshire Terrier Rescue. In her free time, she enjoys reading and spoiling her grandchildren. Crystal is pictured here with her dogs Winston, Pearl, Tramp, Able, and Eve.

 

Genny, LVT

Genny, a Licensed Veterinary Technician, graduated from Blue Ridge Community College with an AAS degree in Animal Sciences/Veterinary Technology in 2008. Genny has been working in the veterinary medical field since 2004. She has been employed at the Animal Hospital of Waynesboro since 2005. Genny is pictured here with her dogs Lilly and Stella.

 

Jennifer, LVT

Jenny has been with us since 2011 as a Licensed Veterinary Technician. Another graduate of Blue Ridge Community College, Jenny has further developed her skills to include managing our inventory. She most enjoys developing client relationships at work. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, her son and riding her motorcycle.

 

Lauren, LVT

Lauren has worked her way up from Kennel Attendant to Licensed Veterinary Technician at the Animal Hospital of Waynesboro. She is a 2015 graduate of the Blue Ridge Community College Technician Program and has proven to be such an asset to our hospital. Her favorite part of the job is spending time with her patients and seeing them get back to feeling better.

 

Crystal, LVT

Crystal joined our staff in the fall of 2016 like she has always been here.  She earned her degree in Associate of Applied Science from the Pima Medical Institute in Chula Vista, CA.  Now a Licensed Veterinary Technician for the state of VA, she has found that her favorite part of her job is helping her patients and seeing the love on their faces.  Her enthusiasm and energy is contagious.  Her free time is spent relaxing with her family (husband, 2 daughters, 3 dogs, 3 pigs and a guinea pig) and coaching several sports with our local Special Olympics.

 

Erica, LVT

Erica is a 2015 graduate of the Veterinary Technician program at Blue Ridge Community College.  She joined our staff in the fall of 2016 and has been such as asset.  She loves sharing her knowledge with clients and has particular interests in veterinary dentistry or orthopedics.  She enjoys time with her husband and dogs, Branson & Madison during her down time.

 

Ashley, LVT

Joining the Animal Hospital in May 2016, Ashley brings a warmth that comforts both her clients and patients.  She is a Licensed Veterinary Technician who studied at Blue Ridge Community College.  She has particular interests in general nursing care, microscopy and dentistry while she is here.  While her talents as a technician brought her here, her great smile greets clients and her gentle nature calms patients.  In her off time she enjoys kayaking, camping, reading, archery and hunting.

 

Kim, Tech Assistant

Kim has been with the Animal Hospital of Waynesboro since October 2012.  She is currently enrolled in the Veterinary Technology program at Blue Ridge Community College.  She enjoys being able to help sick animals and see them turn into a completely different animal once they feel better.  She loves forming relationships with both patients and clients.  When she is not here, you can find her with a book in hand, hiking with her two dogs or traveling to new places.

 

Kristina, Tech Assistant

Kristina has worked with us since January 2015 in various roles around the Animal Hospital.  She is enrolled in the Vet Tech program at Blue Ridge Community College.  She is always helpful in her role as a Technician Assistant and loves to learn.  When she is away from her studies and work, he enjoys fishing, hunting and riding her horses.
